Enthralling Beauty!

One of the prominent themes that immediately comes to mind when I contemplate my conversion to Christ—or any believer’s conversion for that matter—is the reality of Christ and His soul-enthralling beauty. I am convinced this is the genuine essence of regeneration (i.e., being born again). Which is when God by His Spirit, sovereignly and supernaturally, opens the eyes of a sinner’s heart for the first time, to see and grasp the breathtaking beauty of Christ revealed in the gospel. And not only to behold His beauty, but to perceive it as irresistibly delightful, exquisite, and altogether lovely.

When I first laid eyes on the love of my life, it felt like a moment just like this. I vividly remember the day her beauty struck me. Her gentle sweetness and radiant loveliness captured me instantly. I was so smitten with heart-throbbing love for her that I left everything behind (except my faith in Jesus) to win and pursue her love forever in marriage.

Beauty Commands Attention

Can you imagine a groom looking unaffected and apathetic as he beholds his stunning bride walking down the wedding aisle? Wouldn’t you conclude that something is seriously wrong with the groom’s perception?

Or what if you were to suddenly teleport right now to the Swiss Alps? Would you be unmoved by its breathtaking grandeur? Would its scenic beauty not at least cause you to pause for a moment in awe and amazement?

Why?

…Because beauty naturally commands attention.

The same reality applies on an immeasurably larger scale when a sinner’s heart finally apprehends the beauty of Christ for what it truly is—inescapably stunning, lovely and glorious.

In fact, Christ’s beauty commands the undivided attention of countless angels in heaven, captivating them so completely that they remain continuously enraptured and prostrate before Him. (Rev. 7:11)

This is precisely why heaven will be eternally exhilarating, as every soul’s attention will be thoroughly and endlessly riveted by the matchless beauty of Jesus. Here, every heart will be gripped, every eye spellbound, every spirit enflamed with an undying fascination for the unrivaled beauty of the Son of God. (1 John 3:2)

Such beauty intrinsically promises to captivate ceaselessly, an inexhaustible wellspring of joy, wonder and delight for all eternity!

In other words, there will simply be no room for apathy or indifference in heaven; Christ’s beauty is too ravishing to allow for it.
