Code 3: Bomb on Train

Imagine being on a crowded subway train with people packed in like sardines, knowing that a massive bomb is set to go off in T-minus 45 seconds.

You have two options:

1. Keep silent and let these people perish without warning.

2. Open your mouth and lovingly warn the people, leading them to safety.

I believe we can all agree that the second option is the only rational choice for any sane person to make. The first option is undoubtedly the most absurd and heartless one you could choose as it shows a complete lack of concern for the well-being of others’ lives (I believe the technical term for this is called ‘Depraved Indifference’).

This harrowing analogy applies to evangelism & The Great Commission. The passengers represent individuals’ souls, while the train symbolizes the universe they inhabit, the bomb represents God’s wrath against unrepentant sin, and you represent an ambassador of Jesus Christ.

If your life consistently reflects a failure to speak out about Jesus Christ’s gospel, then you are essentially saying “I’m okay with letting people die in their sins and face the ATOMIC BOMB of an offended God’s wrath.”

However, to the contrary, consistently sharing the good news of Jesus with unbelievers and warning them of their eternal danger expresses the utmost love for them by not letting them die in their sins.

Dear Christian, ask yourself: “When was this last time I shared Jesus’ gospel with an unbeliever? When did I last shed tears in private over a lost soul? Do I have a track-record of boldly, yet compassionately, communicating the gospel message? Do I habitually show a depraved indifference over the eternal welfare of unbelievers’ souls?”

Please take a moment to reflect, and if needed, repent.
